About KB and how his Travel Adventure Started
KB is the very imaginative, shortened initials for Koala Bear :-)
KB’s travel adventure came about after I (Karen Smith) had to delay a trip to the United Kingdom. I had been planning to travel early in 2014, and had said to a friend, Sarah-Louise, that I would bring KB with me to meet her at the garden gate - As an Aussie ‘representative’ / memory of Theda - on her walk to raise funds for ME, and in memory of Theda Myint. While a walk from a bedroom to the garden gate may not seem like a big feat to some - once you take the 5minutes to read Sarah-Louise’s journey (The Path of My Illness) below blog post - you will realise what an absolutely amazing effort it was.
I first “met” Sarah-Louise through the passing of Theda Myint in 2013 and I can honestly say each and every post I have seen of hers since is uplifting and brings a smile. The best way I can describe her Journey – is to share words she herself wrote in 2014 to raise awareness of Invisible Illness. Her journey and her words will astound you - and what she has lived through, and how she finds the courage every day to be a part of a community of hundreds of other people that help each other to smile and keep on fighting, is even more astounding.
When I postponed the trip to the UK in 2014, I thought that rather than just sending KB directly to Sarah Louise, that a fun way for her (and others to unwell to have adventures) to see some of the “outside” world would be through KB travelling around, so that people could share their time with him and gather pictures / memories from places all over the world.
A facebook event page was set up : The word sent out about KB's mission of collecting as many adventures as possible, and people quickly added their names to the list to have KB visit.
*Please note: As the 'event page' expired and KB's travels grew - the adventures are now being followed on a Public Facebook Page : KB's Travelling Troupe's
Now for a brief message from KB: I am on my way to my forever home with Sarah Louise (“Feather”) Jordon. She resides in the magical lands of faraway castles, where fairies and leprechauns all dance in the fields and feed the unicorns. Of course there are many handsome princes trying to win her hand by fighting off the pesky dragons.... Though between you and me, I am sure as soon as she sees me, I will win her heart and she will have eyes for no other.
But !! Before I can spend ever after with my precious Feather – I must travel the lands, wandering far and wide, gathering stories of adventure to share with her in our forever home. A home, that due to illness, she has been unable to leave for very many years. Though never fear my fellow adventure companions: We will all make such amazing magnificent wonderful memories that I will be recounting them with her for many many eons to come!!
Enough about me, and now on to how you all can help make my adventures on behalf of Sarah, the most awesomely fantabulous ones this side of the fairy fountain. It is easy really – I will be travelling to Sarah’s friends/ whoever is able to have me visit for a little while. I will be travelling around Australia first, then over to the United States, and finally on to the United Kingdom, where Sarah’s castle is to be found. To join in the adventure: All you have to do is:
*Please Note: As KB has now been joined by Mike, Mal and Grandpa Avo, the ways to join in the adventure have changed slightly as there will be a number of bears travelling in various countries.
