Remembering Raechel – Football Final Challenge

12/8/2015

The Remembering Raechel:  Football Final Challenge is something that I have wanted to do due to Raechel sharing her Lyme journey story on the same day as gaining her angel wings. I felt that to achieve  something to remember her closing words  ~~~  "I was even going to  do a streak run at the footy finals painted Lyme green and holding a banner saying NEW RESEARCH FOR LYME NOW!!!!   But the fine is big and the cameras turn away from you lol” ~~~ would be an awesome way to remember such a beautiful soul and gain some extra awareness of Lyme that Raechel fought for whilst on earth.  (Raechel's full post regarding her Lyme journey is below)

The challenge is put out there today, the 12th of August 2015 - Raechel's 47th Birthday. Please help us ensure Raechel’s quest for Lyme awareness at the Football finals sees reality this year and join us in doing something to raise awareness at a finals game. Now, don’t get too alarmed  – I am not going to take her words literally and ask people to streak naked at the football finals...  But I would like to see how many football teams we are able to encourage to wear green armbands this year in the finals.  Alternatively, if you are going to watch a game, this year - wear a Green ribbon and/or a Lyme awareness shirt and take a sign with you displaying Raechel’s words: “New Research For Lyme Now”. If you are extra adventurous you could also wear a full green bodysuit – covers up a little more than streaking – but may get you just about the same attention.  Whatever it is you do at football finals this year : Please let us know what teams you have challenged, post a photo, tell us what you are going to do either on  the

    Raechel Thomas

Raechel Thomas (aka Raych Aryles) was an Australian Lyme Patient who died whilst living with, and fighting for  recognition and awareness of  Lyme. Raechel was so much more than a Lyme patient, and an advocate for its recognition.  She was a daughter, sister, aunty, friend, nanny, earth angel. Some words used to describe Raechel in the numerous messages left on her facebook page were: Kind hearted, Beautiful, Caring, Soul Sister, Warrior Princess, Free spirit who had a smile for all..   Raechel championed many causes, including Greenpeace and Lyme Awareness,
